From past to future – Recreation of Notre Dame

The whole process of drawing was exhibited during three days (september 2019) of the Slovakia Tech event at Kosice city. The work was sold after, and the profit was donated to research prosthetic limbs at Kosice Technical University.

At the 2019 SlovakiaTech Expo, I had the opportunity to present a unique exhibition featuring a drawing robot I designed. This installation was a focal point, where the robot meticulously recreated an artwork inspired by an engraving of the façade of the Cathedral of Notre Dame. The original engraving, a masterful depiction of this iconic Gothic architecture, is one I have always admired and can be seen on Wikipedia.

In this project, I aimed to merge the realms of technology and historical art. It was a journey that allowed me to offer a fresh perspective on a classic masterpiece through the precision and ingenuity of modern robotics. This exhibition was not just about showcasing my skills in engineering and robotics; it was about creating a bridge between the past and the present. It highlighted how traditional art forms can be reimagined and revitalized using contemporary digital techniques. My goal was to capture the essence of the Cathedral’s intricate details through the calculated and delicate movements of the robot, bringing a centuries-old artwork to life in a new, dynamic form.
